Nick Norwood (M.A.), Columbus, Ga. who teaches writing and literature at Columbus State University, wrote Gravel and Hawk (Ohio University Press), the winner of the annual Hollis Summers Poetry Prize. Turning toward a more personal narrative in this third book of poems, set in the Texarkana area, he focuses on a single extended family, its gains and losses, and its encounters with violent death.
