Jon Vandagriff

Jon R. Vandagriff (M.A.), Weatherford :: wrote Weatherford College: The First 150 Years, which chronicles the oldest junior college west of the Mississippi and one of the oldest educational institutions in the state. Vandagriff is a retired, award-winning daily newspaper editor for the Weatherford Democrat and Emeritus professor of history from Tarrant County College, where he taught for 31 years. The 84 year old still teaches Texas history at the Doss Heritage and Culture Center in Weatherford and writes a column for the Democrat. Vandagriff’s first book was a newspaper history, The Democrat Years: A Growing Process, written for his master’s thesis at UNT, followed by The Parker County Texas Story 1852 to 1956 in 2010.
