Don Martin

Don Martin ('81 M.S.), Beaver, Penn. :: published the book Finding Grit: The No-Nonsense Guide for Raising Your Daughter to be Successful in Athletics, School and Life (ArcheBooks Publishing). He has been a counselor educator, psychologist and counselor for more than 30 years and is a professor and coordinator of the school counseling program at Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio. His research, which focuses on athletic achievement in girls, childhood obesity, and social and academic achievement in urban schools, has been featured on social media sites including those of NPR and USA Today. He has received the Outstanding Alumni Award from UNT’s Department of Counseling and Human Development.
