Dan M. Linn, Dallas retired from the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts last summer after 40 years of service. He says he was ready to “pull the plug” after two years at the job, but a campaign swing by Bob Bullock and appointments as regional audit director of the Fort Worth and then Dallas regions convinced him to stay. He became an assistant state comptroller and the first director of the audit division in 1979 to modernize the state tax audit function. For the last 10 years, he was the manager for evaluation, development and succession planning.
