Charles Gongre ('80 Ph.D.), Port Neches who earned his doctorate in English, retired in May after 38 years as a teacher and administrator at Lamar State College in Port Arthur. The college honored him with the title of Professor Emeritus. He lives in Port Neches with his wife, Lisa.
