Barbara Nicholson, Nashville, Tenn. received the first-place gold award from ForeWord magazine for the book she co-wrote, Attached at the Heart: Eight Proven Parenting Principles for Raising Connected and Compassionate Children. Theawards, announced in May at Book Expo America in New York City, recognize the best independently published works from 2009 selected by a panel of librarians and booksellers.
