Juan Rangel ('77 M.P.A.), Fort Worth, was re-elected to the Fort Worth school board this spring, where he represents District 8.

Bill Conway, Sausalito, Calif., was named vice president/ senior programmer for the Bonneville San Francisco Radio Group. He joined KOIT AM-FM in 1997 as program director and became station manager in 2001.

Gloria Moreno Verbeek, Wylie, retired in 2001 from her 30-year career in engineering management with Texas Instruments. She says she retired to smell the roses, take care of her parents and enjoy spending time with her husband, Dennis.

Stephen Sullivan ('74 M.Ed.), Magnolia, has been promoted to vice president of New York Life Investment Management Co., where he has worked for eight years.

Cecil Clift, Austin, recently celebrated his 20th anniversary as founder, editor and publisher of Texas Education News, an independent newsletter covering statewide public K-12 education issues.

Loren Dohm, Alexandria, Va., took early retirement from the U.S. Treasury Dept. in Washington, D.C., where he was deputy director of the Office of Foreign Assets Control. He is now managing investment portfolios for individuals.

Sparky Koerner (M.M.Ed.), Texas City, was recognized for outstanding commitment to the International Association of Jazz Education Texas Unit, which he has been involved with for 20 years. He served as president from 2000 to 2003.

Albert Smith, ('80 M.A.), Spotsylvania, Va., served on the staff for the Cappies National Theater in summer 2003. He directed one production at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and served as technical director for three others. He was director of theater at the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts at Woodbridge Senior High School in Prince William County, Virginia, before moving to Freedom High School where he will be starting a new theater program.

Michael Tenorio, Austin, was inducted into the IBM Quarter Century Club. He joined IBM in 1979 and currently works in Austin as a regional IT manager for the real estate division. He and his wife, Lou Mae Hacker Tenorio ('78), have been married for 20 years and have two children.
