Vernon Bryant, Frisco, won second place in sports photography in the top division of the Texas Associated Press Managing Editors annual convention in March. He’s a photographer with the Dallas Morning News.

Pete De Siena and Jami De Siena (’01), Valencia, Calif., welcomed their second daughter, Maggie Annabella, in March. Their first daughter, Keeley Grace, was born in December 2005. Jami teaches elementary music in Santa Clarita, Calif. Pete is working
as a professional trumpet player in the Los Angeles/Hollywood area.

Harold Huddleston, Dallas, and his wife, Laura, were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Margaret Hannah, in March.

Bruce Howell (M.S.), Dallas, joined Powell Goldstein LLP’s Dallas office as counsel, working with the firm’s national health care practice. Previously, he was with Kirkpatrick and Lockhart Preston Gates Ellis LLP.

Melissa Daggs, Lake Worth, obtained her M.B.A. from Texas Woman’s University in 2005 and is working as a human resources representative for a healthcare company. She was a resident of College Inn during her tenure at UNT and was a member of the UNT chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management. She says she plans to return in the next few years to earn a Ph.D.

Nic Gay, Houston, received an M.D. from Baylor College of Medicine in May. He will complete his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Pennsylvania.

Josh Rose (M.A.), Garland, is public art coordinator for the city of Dallas’ Office of Cultural Affairs. Previously, he served as manager of public programs at the Dallas Museum of Art.

Curtis L. Harnagel, Southlake, finished the first high school production of The Phantom of the Opera as lighting and sound designer at Southlake Carroll in December. Only four high schools and two colleges in the nation were chosen for the pilot program. He also works with dance and drill teams across the state and won a Remi Award at WorldFest in Houston for his documentary short Tango Pasional, which was produced as part of UNT’s Summer Documentary Workshop Series through the radio, television and film department.

Clint Kirby, Littleton, Colo., graduated from Denver Seminary with a master’s of divinity degree, specializing in intercultural missions. He says he is looking forward to retiring his green apron from Starbucks and pursuing work in the international field.

John Herda (M.A.), Arlington, was awarded the Ross Fellowship by Purdue University to study four years for a Ph.D. in Spanish beginning in August.

Melinda Ann Coogan(Ph.D.), Storm Lake, Iowa, received a tenure-track position as assistant professor of biology with Buena Vista University last fall. Her course offerings include freshwater biology and aquatic toxicology.

*Tara Leigh Johnson and *William Andrew Parker (’07), Oahu, Hawaii, were married in December at the Chapel at the Luxor in Las Vegas, Nev. She worked for San Jacinto College in Pasadena as an academic advisor and recruiter and he is an information warfare officer for the U.S. Navy.
