* Harold Davis (M.S.), Big Spring, was inducted into the new Western Junior College Athletic Association Hall of Fame in January. He was hired as Howard College's first men's basketball coach and athletic director in 1947 and coached there until 1958, with a break for Marine Corps service in Korea. His teams advanced to the national tournament twice, once reaching the Final Four. Davis later became president and chair of the board of Gamco Industries and executive vice president and chief operating officer of Siboney. He was named a Distinguished Alumnus of UNT in 2000. He and his wife, Janell Wood Davis ('47), were married on the radio show "Bride and Groom" in Hollywood in 1947.
