Steve L. Cooper (D.M.A.), Rogers, Ark., wrote a play, The Humble Heart, Shakers in America, that premiered at NorthWest Arkansas Community College. The full-length, Broadway-style musical drama presents the history of the Shakers, including their theology, their music, their focus on work as worship and their architecture and furniture design.

Mitchell D. Davis, Edmond, Okla., was promoted to postal inspector projects coordinator in Oklahoma City in August. He became a postal inspector in 1991.

William C. Laning, Alvarado, is vice principal in charge of curriculum at Brazos River Charter School near Glen Rose. Laning was also selected by the Veterans of Foreign Wars as Texas Teacher of the Year for 1999-2000.

Angela K. Cheatham (’96 M.Ed.), Carrollton, married Terry Gray in July. She is the assistant principal for Grapevine-Colleyville ISD.

Christopher D. Echols, Germany, transferred from Buechel Air Base in Germany to Ramstein Air Base in Germany to fill the senior Air Force security forces inspector general position in the U.S. Air Forces in Europe Command.

Lucianna ‘Shawny’ Figuerola Ganus, Richardson, and her husband are pleased to announce the birth of their first child, Jenna Danielle. Ganus teaches ESL at Birmingham Elementary in Wylie.

Pamela M. Harris, Dallas, is a writer for Gallier and Wittenberg, a marketing, advertising and public relations company. Prior to joining the company, Harris was assistant managing editor with the Dallas Business Journal. Anita Combs Lee (M.Ed.), Marietta, Ga., was named assistant director of children’s ministries at the 7,000-member Roswell United Methodist Church in Roswell, Ga. She also recently performed at Carnegie Hall with the Michael O’Neal Singers, a 140-voice symphonic chorus.

Emily Pulley (M.M.), College Station, won a 2000 ARIA Award (Awards Recognizing Individual Artistry). The $15,000 awards are given annually to opera singers considered to be on the brink of a major career.

Daniel J. Blizzard (M.B.A.), Plano, was promoted to vice president of operations for Belo Corp. Blizzard most recently served as director of procurement for Belo’s Dallas Morning News. Prior to that, he served in several management roles in the area of procurement. He is a member of the National Association of Purchasing Management, the American Production and Inventory Control Society and the Newspaper Purchasing Management Association.

Kathryn ‘Kay’ Thomas (Ph.D.), Turlock, Calif., was promoted to senior research associate at LTG Associates Inc., a social science and public health consulting and research firm.

Richard J. Williamson (Ph.D.), Cambridge, Ohio, assistant professor of English at Muskingum College, was awarded the college’s highest honor for excellence in teaching. Williamson joined Muskingum in 1996. He specializes in 19th- and 20th-century American literature, the novel, composition, and business and technical writing.
