‘Rip’ Ford

John S. "Rip" Ford is famous for his days as a Texas Ranger and as an officer in the Confederate Army, commanding Texas forces in the last engagement of the Civil War, the Battle of Palmito Ranch. But Ford also was a doctor, lawyer, editor, author, state legislator and civic leader who in later life fought to preserve Texas history.
