Walter Scott Mickey Sandefur III, of Denton, a professor of teacher education and
administration for 43 years, died Nov. 30 in Denton. He specialized in curriculum
and instruction, consulting with many school districts. He also served as interim
associate dean of Academic Affairs. He was an active member of his church, an avid
hunter and fisherman, and was a basketball and baseball coach for his children’s teams.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War. He received his
bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Northwest State University of Louisiana and a
doctorate from the University of Arkansas.
