Sabrina “Peni” Penelope Gilbreath, 65, Sanger, who retired from the Department of Chemistry in 2020, died July 23.

She was born in Coral Gables, Florida, and received her associate’s degree in business at El Paso Community College. She met and married her husband of 38 years, West Gilbreath, in El Paso, and in 2001, they moved to Sanger to start second careers — Sabrina bringing her logistics expertise to the chemistry department as the stockroom supervisor, and West serving with the UNT Police Department.

Sabrina was on the Staff Senate and received the Steve Miller Outstanding Service Award in 2016. The award recognizes staff members whose contributions have positively impacted their department and the university.

She loved going on cruises, shopping for antiques with her husband and going to the movies.

A graveside service is scheduled at 10 a.m. Sept. 13 at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Muenster.
