Dr. Roosevelt Washington Jr., Denton, was a Professor Emeritus who taught administrative education at North Texas from 1974 through 1996. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1954 and began his career in education by working within the Chicago public school system. After earning his Ph.D. in educational administration and supervision from Northern Illinois University, he taught at Marquette University from 1971 to 1974 before joining the faculty at North Texas. In his free time, he enjoyed playing golf.
