He was a homebuilder who had owned Villa Pacific Building Co. in southern California. He was a lifetime member of the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans, sponsoring millions of dollars in scholarships for high school seniors. As a student at North Texas, he was a member of the Trojans fraternity (later Phi Kappa Sigma) and served on the InterFraternity Council. He left to serve with a military police unit in Korea and Japan before returning to complete his degree. He later established a UNT scholarship fund in his name and donated $1 million for the Waranch Tennis Complex. He received UNT’s Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2006.</main-content></item>
