His contributions benefited the College of Music with The Rainbow-Froehlich Community Outreach and Scholarship Fund. In 1951, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for four years before graduating from the University of Virginia with a degree in science. He worked for the Environmental Protection Agency for 32 years.
