Larry enlisted and served as a Medical Corpsman in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970 and also served as a medic during the Vietnam War. He retired from UNT in 2017 after 14 years of service during which time he also worked as a farmer/rancher, He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener.
