Scott graduated from UNT in 1981 with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education, then achieved a second bachelor’s degree in business in 1984. As a child, he loved plants, nature and gardening. He sold saplings in his free time and it inspired his father, the late Henry Kenneth Hartwell (’54), to found Lewisville Garden and Fence company, which Scott later took over and grew into Hartwell’s Nursery. He greeted every customer with a smile and a hearty welcome to his business. Scott enjoyed art, playing the trombone and traveling. He was active in his church.</main-content></item>
