She was a junior meteorologist for American Airlines before teaching and becoming assistant principal of Rider High School in Wichita Falls. She was an avid Girl Scout for almost 60 years, serving as a field director in Japan for three years when her husband’s military service took them to the Far East. She also wrote a number of romance novels and genealogical histories.
