Ian Champion (’21), 26, of Denton, a College of Science mathematics doctoral student and teaching fellow who was working on his dissertation, died Jan. 20, 2026. He taught business math and calculus, among other courses at UNT. When he was a student at Longview High School, he was in the top 10 percent of his class and 1st chair trumpeter in band.
