As a member of the North Texas track team, he tied the 220 low hurdles record, which remained in place until the event was retired.
After graduating, Freddie pursued a career in education. He was a teacher and coach at Crane ISD and returned to his hometown of Roby to serve as the high school principal and coach. He later started a Hereford cattle operation. He also was an elder in his church and a founding board member of the Heritage House care facility.</main-content></item>
