She was a member of the President’s Council for establishing the UNT College of Music’s Shelly Manne Memorial Scholarship Fund, honoring her husband, musician Sheldon “Shelly” Manne. A talented dancer, Flip pursued her dreams in New York City, where she performed with the Radio City Rockettes. She also served as the president of the Los Angeles Jazz Society, establishing the Shelly Manne New Talent Award in 1984.
