The Texas Legislature has named Distinguished Research Professor Dornith Doherty the 2016 Texas State Visual Artist 2D from more than 600 nominees.

Doherty's photographs, which have focused on the "complex relationship between the natural environment and human agency," can be seen Feb. 4-March 12 at UNT ArtSpace Dallas.

"It is a profound honor to be recognized in my home state," Doherty says.

Museums around the world have exhibited her works. Gaillardia is pictured.
