I just saw the Fall 2024 North Texan story on Billy Harper ('65). What a guy! At the time, I did not realize he was the first Black member of the One O'Clock Lab Band. I remember seeing him play on campus and driving down to Dallas to hear him at a club where he played. I don't remember the name of the friend who took me there, but I do remember that he had a Volkswagen Karmann Ghia.
