Honorary Doctorate

UNT paid tribute to Paul Voertman, former owner of Denton's iconic Voertman's Bookstore, at the May commencement ceremony for his devotion to the arts, to UNT and to the university's spirit of creativity.

Voertman, whose ties to the university began when he attended kindergarten at the Demonstration School, has helped hundreds of students hone their musical and artistic talents through scholarships and through the opportunity to perform in UNT's world-class Paul Voertman Concert Hall.

He's also responsible for launching UNT's Voertman Student Art Competition and supporting the installation of the Richard Ardoin-Paul Voertman Concert Organ.

He will receive an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters at a future date.
