Grant funds will help examine transfer student challenges

Home of the National Institute for the Study of Transfer Students, UNT is ranked No. 4 nationally and No. 1 in Texas for the enrollment of transfer students.

The university continues to work to improve the experience of transfer students and recently secured two additional grants. A $148,000 grant from Texas Guaranteed will allow College of Education professors and doctoral students to interview administrators, faculty, staff and students at Texas colleges and universities to investigate the effectiveness of state and campus transfer policies. The second grant, a $50,000 SEMILLAS grant from Excelencia in Education, will support services for Latino transfer students to help them succeed and graduate from college.
