Founder of Citizens for Affordable Energy speaks on campus

JohnHofmeisterAs part of UNT’s commitment to sustainability, the university hosted John Hofmeister, founder and CEO of Citizens for Affordable Energy and retired president of Shell Oil, who discussed the state of the U.S. energy industry and its future July 7.

 
He also explored UNT’s energy-related research during his visit. UNT faculty are breaking new ground, such as creating biodegradable packaging with natural fibers, developing energy-efficient lighting and exploring the use of crops for renewable energy sources.
 
The university is bringing in speakers like Hofmeister to increase awareness and foster dialogue on sustainability issues. Jeff Goodell, author of Big Coal, is expected to speak on campus Oct. 6 as part of the One Book, One Community program.
