First-place Production

The opera program’s production of Marc Blitzstein’s Regina won first place in the National Opera Association’s Opera Production Competition. The award was presented at the association’s convention in January.

Regina, based on playwright Lillian Hellman’s The Little Foxes, uses a variety of styles including jazz, Dixieland and blues, in addition to opera. Stephen Dubberly, the opera program’s music director, conducted the production, and Paula Homer, opera stage director, directed it.
