Tanisha S. Cowley (’26), McKinney, wrote her memoir, The Ceiling Was Never Fixed: Rewriting the Beliefs I Once Thought Were Permanent. Through personal contemplation of her own life, Tanisha asks readers how they form beliefs and perspectives and how they can be changed.

A first-generation student and mother of six, Tanisha earned her bachelor’s degree in applied arts and sciences just nine days before her oldest child graduated from University of Texas at Dallas. She intends to return to UNT in 2027 and pursue graduate studies in psychology.
