Rosario “Rosie” Carbó (’80), San Antonio, published the creative nonfiction book, Maria Antonia y sus retoños: Legacies of Motherhood. The book centers on the life of her grandmother, Maria Antonia Mechaca, and details the intergenerational conflict between Rosie’s mother and grandmother. Rosie graduated from the UNT Mayborn School of Journalism and wrote freelance articles for The Dallas Morning News and worked as a staff writer for Allen American, McKinney Courier Gazette, Richardson Daily News, Plano Star Courier and several other publications. “It’s just the start of a whole new career for me as an author,” she says.
