C.W. ‘Charlie’ Smith

C.W. ‘Charlie’ Smith, Dallas, will release his 10th novel, Girl Flees Circus (University of New Mexico Press), in September. Inspired by the stories he heard as a youngster in Hobbs, New Mexico, the book follows a young aviatrix who crashes her plane in a small town in New Mexico and ends up spending time there as she waits on the repairs. Smith is Dedman Family Distinguished Professor of English Emeritus at Southern Methodist University and has also written numerous short stories, essays and a memoir.
