Yakesha Jones, Dallas, won Teacher of the Year for her campus, Southgate Elementary in Garland ISD, where she teaches 5th grade English language arts and reading and social studies. She has been an educator for 20 years and has taught in Garland ISD since 2017. While attending UNT, she was the managing editor for the graduation section of the NT Daily.
