Sharon Yoder Dent (’80), Bellaire, is a professor of biochemistry and molecular biology and the Rebecca Meyer Brown and Joseph Mellinger Brown Chair in Basic Science Research at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. She is featured in the center’s book Legends and Legacies: Personal Journeys of Women Physicians and Scientists at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. She says it was through a work-study job as an undergraduate in the UNT biochemistry lab of Myron Jacobson that she discovered science was her true calling.
