Photo of Philip PoolePhilip Poole (M.A.), Spanish Fort, Alabama, retired after more than 40 years working in public relations, most of it in higher education administration. He began a second career as a practice professor in public relations at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, where he teaches courses in the public relations concentration for the Department of Communication Studies. He recently began serving as an executive officer for the Public Relations Society of America's College of Fellows, a group of 350 public relations practitioners who are nominated and selected for achievements at the pinnacle of their careers. He was inducted into the College of Fellows in 2018. He credits Roy Busby (’59, ’66 M.B.A.), Regents professor in the Mayborn School of Journalism, for much of his inspiration during his career, especially his involvement with the PRSA and earning his Accreditation in Public Relations (APR).
