Graduation Year:

Photo of time capsule with various items Matthew McGarity, McKinney, has dug up old memories of his time at UNT. He opened his own personal time capsule that he made in 1997, just months before he graduated and inspired by a similar time capsule buried at Bruce Hall. When he opened the capsule in April 2022, he said, “It's been a wonderful trip through time.” Among the objects he found were the winding key for the pendulum clock hanging in Bruce Hall, a tin of Spam, a Koosh ball, a can of Red Bull (which leaked), a 1997 U.S. Mint proof coin set, his North Texas Premiere Soccer Association identification card and a U.S. Treasury Savings Bond that was bought for $25 and is now valued at $100. While at UNT, he was a member of the Residence Hall Association, Bruce Hall Association and Mortar Board.
