Mackie Spradley (’13 Ph.D.), Austin :: has been elected president of the National Association for Music Education, the largest professional association of music educators in the U.S. She was elected through a national vote of NAfME’s 60,000+ members in January. Before becoming the Coordinator of Secondary Choral & General Music Studies in the Dallas ISD for 10 years, she taught music in the Fort Worth and Dallas ISDs for 16 years. She was immediate past president of the NAfME Texas chapter. She is the director of enrichment education for the Texas Education Agency, which provides statewide leadership over all enrichment subjects. She also teaches graduate-level courses in the Educational Leadership Online Master’s Program as an adjunct professor in the Department of Teacher Education and Administration in UNT’s College of Education.
