Ken Bridges (TAMS, ’98 M.S., ’03 Ph.D.), El Dorado, Ark. :: has published two new books based on his successful newspaper columns. Arkansas Memories is the second collection of Arkansas history topics from the “History Minute” column, which appears weekly in 42 newspapers across Arkansas. It follows the popular anthology In an Arkansas Minute, published in 2016. Tales of Old Texas is the collection of stories from the “Texas History Minute” column, which has appeared in two dozen Texas newspapers since 2015. "History has always been about more than names and dates," he says. "It's about the stories of real struggles that made Texans from Sam Houston to Barbara Jordan into legends." He has been a professor of history and geography at South Arkansas Community College in El Dorado, Arkansas for 15 years and has published seven books. He also is a commissioner on the Arkansas State Advisory Board for Gifted and Talented Education and the El Dorado Historic District Commission.
