Karen Hanania, Schertz, is a retired special education counselor. She served 32 years in Texas public education, 19 of which were at the Southwest ISD in San Antonio. In 2003, she published two books of poetry: A Drink at the River and Over Easy. She has a 15-year-old son and is interested in visual and culinary arts, as well as yoga.
