Jamie Wilson (’03 M.S., ’11 Ph.D.), Denton, who served a dozen years as superintendent of Denton ISD prior to retiring in 2024, was presented the Educate Award 2024 by the Denton Chamber of Commerce for his community efforts and dedication. In 2015, he received the Excellence in Education Award from the University Council for Educational Administration, followed in 2020 by the Region 11 Superintendent of the Year award. Jamie began his career with the district as a teacher, coach and science department chair before becoming an assistant principal, principal and assistant superintendent for secondary academic programs prior to being named superintendent.
