Jackie Lamar, Conway, Ark. :: After a final recital at which she featured examples of her commissioned works, she retired from the University of Central Arkansas after 32 years as professor of saxophone. Her teaching duties included applied saxophone, bassoon, woodwind mehods, jazz history and jazz ensembles. She also taught at East Central Oklahoma University and Vernon Parish in Louisiana. She was an active member of the North American Saxophone Alliance, serving as Region 4 (Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, and Texas) director for 15 years. While at UNT, she was the first person to complete the DMA in saxophone at UNT. She is the daughter of Homer Brown ('53 M.M.E.)
