Douglas Walter, Boulder, Colorado, wrote No Left Hand Behind! (VapMedia), an instruction manual for developing the left hand at the marimba. His article on innovative techniques “Introducing the Walter Grip” was published by the Percussive Arts Society in February. He directs the percussion and jazz vibes programs in the College of Music at the University of Colorado Boulder. He retired from touring with the Westminster Brass and the Colorado Ballet. In 2018, he earned a bachelor’s degree in French literature and western civilization from the University of Colorado.
