Cheri Bohn, Elkins, Ark. :: won Best in Sculpture at the 23rd annual Artists of Northwest Arkansas competition for her piece entitled Bohn Voyage. The piece, which is of a sailboat, took 150 hours to complete and is composed of roots that represent the water and stained glass that serve as the sails. Bohn started working with stained glass in 1992 and, after her family relocated to Northwest Arkansas, began incorporating the roots from her yard. “I study the roots to see what they want to be,” she says. “I then add glass to bring out what I see. The roots create the inspiration.” Bohn currently has a studio at a local gallery called Art Ventures, and her work is exhibited at Terra Studios, Eurekam Art and Tulsa Artery.
