Photo of Briana FlowersBriana Flowers, Dallas, is one of three women in the all-female ’90s R&B trio Komplete. The trio has released two singles (Change My Mind and Passions) and two albums — 1995 and 1996 (Chopped). She also is a third-grade teacher who plans to further her education at UNT in child psychology to help children in her community with their mental health.

“Singing takes me to a different world where I can feel the sounds on a different level,” she says. “It teaches me character, and it gives me cultural depth. My passion for singing relates to my passion to teach children, because it creates character that allows me to be a different ‘Briana’ for my students. It’s like being on stage. I can reach my audience with my singing by allowing my character to take the audience with me when I go to that other world and give them an experience they won't forget. I reach my children in that same way because I can be whoever they need me to be to make their learning experience one they won't forget.”
