Amber Royer ('04 M.L.S.), Richardson :: published her debut science fiction novel Free Chocolate (Watkins Media), about Earthlings trying to save their most-wanted product from aliens — chocolate. Amber describes the comic space opera as her “kitchen sink novel” because it includes all of her interests/fascinations/psychological conundrums up to and including the kitchen sink. Free Chocolate was named one of the Barnes & Noble Science Fiction and Fantasy blog’s “25 Sci-Fi & Fantasy Debuts to Watch for in 2018.” Amber enjoys reading, experimental cooking and traveling, and calls herself a self-appointed “language geek.” Amber currently teaches creative writing for the University of Texas at Arlington Continuing Education program and Writing Workshops Dallas.
