Ally Hany Albrecht, Alexandria, Virginia, has been awarded the position of jazz trumpet instrumentalist with the U.S. Navy Commodores Jazz Ensemble. She is the first female jazz trumpet player to serve in the band. Ally previously served with the U.S. Air Force Band of the Golden West at Travis Air Force Base in California after completing her Master of Music at the Manhattan School of Music and working as a freelance musician in New York City. At UNT, she was a member of the One O’Clock Lab Band. Her favorite campus memory is “Spending every Wednesday night seeing great musicians at the old Syndicate (or getting to play myself), and then getting up Thursday morning to see even more music at the One O'Clock lounge. What an amazing environment for a young jazz musician to grow in!”
