Lasting memory

As a student at North Texas, I felt like a hungry baby bird with my mouth wide open waiting to be fed. I was truly hungry for more knowledge and aspired to a higher standard of musicianship as a pianist. What I found wherever I turned in the school of music were people ready and willing to "feed" me. If you showed the faculty you were serious about your desire to improve, they would respond with everything they could possibly do for you.

— Dan Haerle ('66 M.M.), Regents Professor of jazz studies

Bowl pics

If you were in New Orleans to support the Mean Green in December, we'd love to see what you did while in town — well, whatever's appropriate for family viewing. Send us your photos and we'll post some here. Be sure to identify people in the pictures and let us know which ones are North Texas alums. Also let us know how to reach you in case we have questions.

Send photos by e-mail to north_texan@unt.edu or mail them to The North Texan, University of North Texas, Office of University Communications and Marketing, P.O. Box 311070, Denton, Texas 76203-1070.

Big Muscles
  [media mention]

Pamela Guyton (’01) was one of the winners of Muscle & Fitness magazine’s fifth annual “Biggest Muscles on Campus” contest. The former gymnast, Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, flight attendant and professional dancer received her undergraduate degree this August in biology. “I really wanted to learn how things worked at the microscopic level,” she says. The mother of a 3-year-old son, Guyton trains faithfully five days a week. “I love my life, and in reality, I would not be able to go to school or take as good a care of my son if I didn’t have working out to keep me sane,” she says.
