Lisa Ling, host of the TV documentary series Explorer, visits with President Norval Pohl and Barbikay Pohl. Ling was the featured speaker at UNT’s annual Women of Color conference March 30. The focus of this year’s conference was “Women’s Global Health Issues.”

The winner of this year’s Edible Books Festival in the artistic concept category was “Booklava: Greek Ruin” by Ann Howington (’04, ’06 M.S.). The fund-raising event, held April 3 in Willis Library’s Rare Book Room, benefits the Friends of the UNT Libraries.

Free food, live music and entertainment were on hand for the annual Spring Fling April 12 in the Library Mall. Hosted by the University Program Council, the festival gives students a chance to relax before finals.

The work of UNT fashion design seniors was modeled on the runway May 5 at the ArtWear 2006 fashion show. A jury of industry professionals chose the entries to be featured in the show.

Students earning graduate degrees were hooded May 13 in commencement ceremonies that featured more than 2,600 total graduates. Speakers at the day’s ceremonies included U.S. Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson and Raymond Paul, technical director for command and control policy with the U.S. Department of Defense.
