Glenda Martin-Shirley (formerly
Glenda Holmes),
Denton, graduated in December with an M.F.A. in painting from Texas
Womans University. She is now an adjunct assistant professor
at TWU and an associate professor at Collin County Community College
in Plano. She is also the founder and director of Balance, a professional
artists organization. Its members include fine artists of various
media from the North Texas region.

Marti Wachtel (M.S.),
San Jose, Calif., was named chair of the Historic Landmarks Commission
for the city of San Jose. She has been a member of the commission
since 1998 and says she has long been an aficianado of historic
preservation and architectural restoration.

Dallas, has been promoted to director of strategic purchasing for

Austin, is pursuing an M.B.A. at St. Edwards University in
Austin and currently serves as the assistant emergency management
coordinator for the Lower Colorado River Authority.

Richardson, and her husband, Chris, celebrated the birth of their
second child, Aaron Christopher, in November.

M.P.A.), Elgin, has earned the professional designation of certified
economic developer. She has been the economic and community development
director for the city of Elgin since 1996 and previously worked
for the cities of Fort Worth, Dallas and Colleyville.

Andrew is an assistant professor in the School of Education at Baylor

(M.B.A.), Sutherlin, Ore., has been promoted to president of the
Umpqua Feather Merchants fly fishing company, the worlds largest
manufacturer and distributor of flies. He is a board member of the
American Fly Fishing Trade Association.
Brian
S. Gadek,
Plano, was hired as the director of operations for Dataflow Services,
a banking software company. He has been in the software industry
for six years.
Gary
Gansle,
Menlo Park, Calif., received the Outstanding Volunteer in Public
Service Award from the Bar Association of San Franciscos Volunteer
Legal Services Program for providing employment law advice and training
to nonprofit organizations. He has been an associate in the Employment
Law Group at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati since graduating
from the University of Virginias School of Law in 1998.

Denver, has achieved national board certification as
a teacher. The yearlong process included assessments of teaching
portfolios, student work samples and videotapes and an analysis
of her classroom teaching and student learning.

Addison, is a product/catalog manager with the Accessory Group,
a Dallas-based subsidiary of Bassett Furniture Industries. She married
Tim Alguire in November 1999.

Akira Sato (M.M.),
Dallas, is director of the Meadows Jazz Orchestra, a 20-member student
ensemble at Southern Methodist Universitys Meadows School
of the Arts. He is a trumpet player and composer and at North Texas
was a member of the One OClock Lab Band and director of the
Three OClock Lab Band.
