The Eagle Point Campus street connecting Bonnie Brae to the new Victory Hall residence hall now sports the name Walt Parker Drive. The UNT Board of Regents authorized naming the street for Parker ('40), former vice president and vice chancellor for governmental affairs, at its November meeting. The newly remodeled Corner Store in the University Union opened with the start of the spring semester. Additions include the Jazzman's Café, featuring upscale coffee and baked goods.

Erik Tawaststjerna, professor at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland, performed the music of Jean Sibelius during the Sibelius Symposium Jan. 16-20 at UNT. This was the first time the annual international assembly was convened outside Finland.

A career fair was held Feb. 25 at the UNT Research Park as part of Engineering Week. Representatives advertised their companies and provided on-the-spot interviews with students from the UNT College of Engineering.

North Texas fans cheered on the men's basketball team in the Super Pit March 4. The Sun Belt Conference men's and women's tournaments came to Denton March 4-8, with 22 teams and their fans in attendance.

University Union workers served up a free juke box cake to celebrate Union Day March 9. Festivities on the 57th birthday of the Union also included face painting, musical entertainment, product samples, free sundaes and such specials as 57-cent copies and faxes.
