groundbreaking  

Ground was broken June 24 for UNT’s new Chemistry Building, under construction at Hickory and Avenue C. Wind Symphony  

The UNT Wind Symphony helps out at the College of Music’s Conductors Collegium, which began July 14. Instrumental music educators from throughout the country attend the annual workshop and are selected to rehearse with the symphony and conduct it in concert.

About 1,800 students applied for graduation this summer, including 50 doctoral candidates. James Duban, professor of English and director of the UNT Office for Nationally Competitive Scholarships, was the featured speaker at the Aug. 9 commencement ceremony.

Chelsi and Cara Cox  

New UNT student Chelsi Cox, right, moved into Clark Hall Aug. 17 with some help from her little sister Cara. UNT volunteers were also on hand to help during Sunday Fun Day as the residence halls opened for the fall semester.

scoreboard  

The athletics department unveiled a new scoreboard and videoboard at the south end of Fouts Field in September. The new board, which is twice the size of the old scoreboard, treated fans at the home opener against Baylor Sept. 6 to video highlights of last season, music from AC/DC, a live feed of the game, instant replays and a reverberating eagle screech, among other features.
